Dads N Lads Ltd ("we", "us", "our") is an Alberta-based private-sector organization that operates an online store at dadsnlads.ca selling clothing, footwear and related products. We are committed to protecting the privacy of individuals in a manner that a reasonable person would consider appropriate.

This Privacy Policy explains our practices regarding the collection, use, disclosure, storage, retention and protection of personal information under Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). Where our activities involve personal information in the course of commercial activities that fall under federal jurisdiction or cross provincial/territorial borders in a manner that triggers federal oversight, the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) may also apply. In such cases, our practices are intended to meet the requirements of both laws.


1. What Personal Information We Collect

We collect personal information only for reasonable purposes related to operating our online retail business. Typical categories include:

Directly from you: when you create an account, place an order, sign up for newsletters, contact support, submit product reviews, participate in promotions, or return items.


Automatically: through cookies, pixels, server logs and similar technologies (for site functionality, analytics and security).


From third parties: shipping carriers (delivery updates), payment processors (confirmation of transaction success), and — with your consent — marketing or analytics providers.


3. Purposes for Which We Collect, Use and Disclose Personal Information

We collect, use and disclose personal information only for purposes that a reasonable person would consider appropriate in the circumstances, including:

— usually obtained through a clear affirmative action (checkbox for marketing, explicit agreement during checkout).

Implied consent

— may apply where the purpose is obvious and you voluntarily provide the information (e.g., providing a shipping address to complete a purchase).

You may withdraw consent at any time (subject to legal or contractual restrictions) by contacting us or using unsubscribe mechanisms in emails. Withdrawing consent for essential purposes (e.g., order fulfillment) may prevent us from providing services.


5. Disclosure of Personal Information

We share personal information only when necessary and with appropriate safeguards:

6. Storage, International Transfers and Safeguards

However, some service providers (e.g., cloud hosting, analytics, payment processors) may process or store information outside Canada (commonly the United States). When personal information leaves Canada, it is subject to the laws of the destination country.

We use reasonable physical, technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information (encryption in transit for payments, access controls, regular security assessments, secure destruction methods).


7. Retention

We retain personal information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected or as required by law (typically 6–7 years for tax/accounting records after last interaction). After that time, we securely destroy or irreversibly anonymize it.

10. Children

Our Site and services are not directed to children under the age of majority in Alberta (18). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without verifiable parental/guardian consent.


11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. The revised policy will be posted here with an updated effective date. Material changes that require new consent will be communicated appropriately.
